Myanmar’s Suu Kyi says that Rakhine issue could have been handled better

Over 700 000 Muslims fled Rakhine after government troops crackdown on a Myanmar’s Rakhine state. This was a response to attacks, which were led by Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army, which attacked 30 Myanmar police stations and one military base back in August 2017.

Suu Kyi said:” There’re, of course, ways in which, with hindsight, the situation could have been handled better.” At the World Economic Forum on ASEAN in Hanoi 2018.

She also said that she believes that to have good security and a stable state, we have to be fair to all sides all the time. And that we can’t pick and choose who should be protected via the rule of law.
